Personal Note
I got to experience a profound improvement in neuronal symptoms, that translated into a better mood, more energy, and just an overall willingness to experience life. I truly believe these were some of the keys to improving my health from 80% to over 100%. I jump out of bed in the mornings, and I am brimming with energy. My meditations have improved and my vagal nerve system has skyrocketed. I'm still continuing this and working on perfecting my HRV which is slowly improving. Remember this isn't a race, it's a long journey and you have to celebrate the little wins. Nonetheless, it doesn't mean you can't try to be as efficient as possible, as long as you don't become too neurotic about it and make sure to enjoy the journey. Journey before Destination!
I'll provide my strategies and my mistakes, along with the things that have worked best. If you want to discuss this more deeply, feel free to schedule a free consultation.
Note to you: This concept may scare many people, and I'm not here to give directions or advice. The way I want you to see this information is from someone who self experimented and did a lot of research. These are my notes to myself, and if you read them I hope you find value for creating your own protocols. None of this is medical advice.

Base Protocol and Timelines

Very briefly, the micro/mini dose protocol is the one I recommend if you are new to using psilocybin. It can be treated like nature's antidepressant without the side-effects of pharmaceuticals. As you build your 'spiritual container/muscle' which really means your body's ability to process serotonin and hallucinogenic compounds, you will be able to increase the doses in the future if you wish. For most people microdosing is sufficient, and the safest option, albeit takes much longer for the desired results. If you want to speed it up, eventually you might want to consider the accelerated version.

I will expand on this very soon. Yes, the consensus online is that most people take two-week breaks to integrate and refresh tolerance rates. You can use this information to argue that many people experience the afterglow effects for ~2 weeks after a macrodose, some more. Still, when trying to pair efficient healing and speed it up, one can play around with shorter windows. You also have to take into consideration that fasting has a powerful synergy to reset synapses and make the trip stronger. I believe that you can harness this into a protocol to refresh earlier.

I will expand on this very soon.
Build your spiritual container
You should always build up first. Yes, this is a tough pill to swallow, but you need to understand that the steps and journey is just as important as the result. The faster you rush it, the more dangerous it can be. Think of your spiritual container as a box that you need to fill first before it grows more. If your container is too small for the dose that you take, you can experience negative trips and psyche breaks.

Lemon Tek to avoid gastrointestinal, include the darkest chocolate you can find, raw cacao is best. But there are a few other things I'll use and play around with, and below are some of the top winners. I want you to know that I don't consider lemon tek the ideal way to consume it, because there may be loss of compounds from the actual fiber. But this is something you can play around with and use as a strategy if gastrointestinal issues are a big problem for you.
Examples
- More intense and pleasurable trip: 1 gram of dried mushrooms, 30g raw cacao, 1g l-tryptophan, lemon juice (lemon tek), 1g magnesium glycinate, B-complex multivitamin (mainly for B6), peppermint tea. Make sure in a fasted state, or high ketosis, at least no food 4 hours before.
- Less intense and more relaxing trip: 1 gram of dried mushrooms, 30g raw cacao or 85%+ dark chocolate, 1g l-tryptophan, chamomile, and ginger tea, passionflower extract, 1g magnesium glycinate. At least no food a few hours before or an extremely digestible small meal.
- Biohack extreme version: 1 gram of dried mushrooms, 60g raw cacao, 1g l-tryptophan, lemon juice (lemon tek), 1g magnesium glycinate, fish oil, B-complex multivitamin, peppermint tea, 5-HTP supplement, 1g Lion's Mane extract, 250mg Niacin (flush version). 24-hour water fast or longer before.
Do's
Play soothing music for your first times.
Experiment with different settings later on.
Don't eat before, and if you have to make sure it's super light and digestible.
Gradually increase amount bi-weekly
Take at least 1 week in between small doses, and 2 weeks in between larger ones.
Learn to monotub your own crop for ultimate quality if going to dive deep.
Don'ts
Don't go too high as your first time. (Just like dry fasting, it's always safer to start from a smaller dose. Of course, you can always microdose for a little bit to really get a feel, but if you're like me, you'll want to get results a little quicker. Merging speed with safety brings me to the suggestion of starting with 0.75-1g for your first time).
Don't do it around family members who do not understand, it should be a solo trip for your first few times, in a safe and comfortable setting.
Don't do it if you have a history of psychosis (you'll need a trip sitter and a very experienced psychonaut to hand hold).
Don't do it if pregnant
Don't do it if on psychiatric medications.
Don't take large doses too close together as your tolerance builds up quickly and

Oxytocin as a requirement for healing
Vasopressin (VP) and oxytocin (OT) are distinct molecules; these peptides and their receptors [OT receptor (OTR) and V1a receptor (V1aR)] also are evolved components of an integrated and adaptive system, described as the OT–VP pathway.
Understanding the implication of Psilocybin and Tryptamines

You actually don't need additional tryptamines to help convert to serotonin, psilocin is enough, so the magic of raw cacao lies in different mechanisms than simply providing food for serotonin conversion. Think theobromine and antioxidants.

Serotonin as a requirement for healing

Side strategies to play around with that may improve the experience
The historical and traditional use of psilocybin mushrooms often involves pairing them with certain foods or substances believed to enhance their effects. While raw cacao is a well-known example, there are other substances that have been historically or anecdotally reported to synergize with psilocybin mushrooms:
- Raw Cacao: Raw cacao is traditionally used with psilocybin mushrooms, especially in Central and South American cultures. Cacao contains theobromine, a compound that may synergize with psilocybin to enhance mood and heart function. It also contains tryptamines which are used to convert into serotonin. Very dark chocolate is an acceptable alternative too.
- Honey: In some traditions, honey, especially natural or raw honey, is used to sweeten and ingest mushrooms. Honey is believed to have its own psychoactive properties when fermented, which might synergize with psilocybin.
- Lemon Juice (Lemon Tek Method): Although more modern than ancient, the Lemon Tek method involves soaking psilocybin mushrooms in lemon juice before consumption. The citric acid is believed to convert psilocybin into psilocin, the active compound, potentially enhancing the mushrooms' effects.
- Herbs and Spices: Certain cultures have used various herbs and spices in combination with psilocybin mushrooms. These may include synergetic herbs like Syrian Rue or Passionflower, which are thought to enhance the psychedelic experience.
- Tea Infusions: Brewing psilocybin mushrooms with certain herbal teas is another method used. Herbs like chamomile, mint, or ginger are often chosen for their calming effects, which may complement the psychedelic experience.
- MAOIs: While not a food, the combination of psilocybin with MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) is a practice in some traditional settings. This combination can significantly intensify and prolong the effects of psilocybin, but it also increases risks and is generally not advised without expert guidance. The easiest one to start experimenting with is passionflower.
Pairing supplements with psilocybin can potentially enhance the experience or mitigate some of the less desirable effects. However, it's crucial to approach this with caution, as the interactions between supplements and psilocybin can vary greatly among individuals. Here are a few supplements that are sometimes considered:
- L-Tryptophan: L-tryptophan is a precursor to serotonin, a neurotransmitter involved in mood regulation. Since psilocybin influences serotonin pathways, L-tryptophan may potentially support mood balance. There is only 0.39g tryptophan in 30g of dark chocolate (70-85% cocoa content), extrapolating this, if you have raw cacao you can expect 0.5g in 30g, so eating 60grams of raw cacao can give you 1g of l-tryptophan which is a good supplemental amount. An interesting strategy would be to consume a 30g amount every hour of your trip. Considering that your brain uses a small amount of ingested tryptophan to make serotonin, it is unrealistic to expect chocolate alone to bring a big surge in your serotonin levels. An easier, more efficient way to make serotonin is through taking its direct building block, 5-HTP (lacking in chocolate). Once tryptophan enters the brain, it is converted to 5-HTP which is then converted to serotonin. The more purists will avoid 5-HTP, but risky biohackers might want to experiment with this more. The downside is potentially messing up your own endogenous 5-HTP production pathways.
- Magnesium: Often used for its calming properties, magnesium may help alleviate the physical tension or cramping sometimes associated with psilocybin use.
- Vitamin B6: This vitamin is crucial in the synthesis of neurotransmitters, including serotonin. Taking Vitamin B6 with psilocybin may support the body's natural neurotransmitter production.
- Lion’s Mane Mushroom: Some people report combining Lion’s Mane with psilocybin for its potential neuroprotective and cognitive-enhancing effects, though the scientific evidence for a synergistic effect is limited. But if you've heard of lion's mane you've probably heard of its ability to induce neurogenesis (the growth of new neurons) It's also in Paul Stamet's 'secret stack' and the synergy is aimed at helping solidify a lot more of the 'gains' from the mushroom experience.
- Niacin (Vitamin B3): In Paul Stamets' "stacking formula," niacin is used alongside psilocybin and Lion’s Mane to potentially enhance neural connectivity and promote neurogenesis. The flush from niacin is also believed to help distribute the compounds more effectively.
- Ginger: To combat nausea, which can be a side effect of psilocybin, ginger can be a helpful supplement due to its antiemetic properties.
- Omega-3 Fatty Acids: These fatty acids, found in fish oil or flaxseed oil, support brain health and might enhance the cognitive effects of psilocybin.
- L-Lysine: Inhibits arginine, helps modulate stress and serotonin production, calming, cortisol regulation.
Lemon Tek vs Tea vs Whole Mushroom
I need to dive deeper into this. But I've talked with a few ceremonial experts, as well as biohackers using mushrooms to optimize their wellness. There is a missing significance between ignoring the chitin/fiber/cellulose of the mushroom. We don't know enough about mushrooms as a whole. We assume that psilocin is the active ingredient and that with it we can harness the benefits, hence lemon trekking is so popular (I also fell for this for a long time). Lemon trekking or Teas allow you to get rid of the cellulose and with it, you can minimize a lot of the digestive discomfort. However, it seems we're losing something there. Maybe it's simply the fact that to have a better, more meaningful trip, you need to the extended gradual up and down of a trip, or maybe there are additional effects inside the cellulose. Who knows. But I've switched over to creating capsules with grinded-up mushroom powder (size 00). Grinding up the powder allows for slightly faster absorption and also minimizes digestive distress. You still get the full mushroom. Some people will mix it into a spoon of applesauce, or into homemade chocolates. I guess technically some people will
Magic Mushrooms and Animals
After tracking down many pet owners who claimed their pets got into their mushrooms stash it was revealed to me that none of them had long-term negative side effects. Granted, usually, these were smaller doses. Usually, the owners reported that the pets seemed healthier and happier long after the trip, for months in fact. Now, I don't condone you experimenting on your pets, but if a gram falls on the floor and they scoop it up before you grab it, don't stress too much.
Autoimmune - Stress response and immune healing
- Psilocybin significantly reduced TNF-α, a pro-inflammatory cytokine, immediately after administration, indicating anti-inflammatory effects.
- Seven days post-psilocybin, TNF-α levels returned to baseline, while IL-6 and CRP, other inflammation markers, remained reduced.
- The reduction in inflammatory markers correlated with decreased glutamate levels in the hippocampus, suggesting a connection between psilocybin's effects on brain activity and immune response.
- Participants reported sustained improvements in mood and social behavior, which were associated with the reduction in IL-6 and CRP levels.
- Psilocybin effectively blunted cortisol (stress hormone) response to psychosocial stress compared to placebo, indicating potential benefits in stress regulation and HPA axis modulation.
Bad Trips
Risks with psychedelics should always be taken into consideration. Please be aware that microdosing has little to no risks involved. This is important to understand. Think of micro-dosing as a form of anti-depressant, except with much fewer side effects. It actually strengthens your serotonin system, instead of destabilizing it. Paper after paper proves lasting benefits even after you stop your mushroom therapy, as opposed to complete destruction and shit when stopping pharmaceutical anti-depressants. Weigh both of these options.
This is a reply to someone asking me about bad trips and specifically one where I was pushing it to the extreme at one point and had a ‘bad’ trip.
I've been meditating more and semi-practicing strategies for astral projection - making great strides. The demon trip was scary because I dwelled on it too much - I do believe most of this stuff is exploring our own psyche mixed with thousands of years of genetic memory.
Yeah, it was a good experience because I like to be able to derive wisdom from self-experimentation and it was great because it opened my eyes to bad trips. I also never really had a bad trip previously, and these concepts and living them make me realize how fucked up your mind can make situations sometimes and take you into thoughts that are paralyzing, even if you think you're extremely psychologically resistant to most things.
I do think that over-tripping might play a role in weakening the psyche and being open to splintering thoughts which can cause bad trips, and enough of them could put you into some sort of depression/schizo state so its something I'm more aware of moving forward... mind you that was me meditating to no music and being in a deeper trip. Music is like a feel-good lifevest for trips, sitting in silence can get pretty intense. There are also research papers on people taking psychedelics and going to silent meditation retreats and getting psychotic breaks. A lot of the retreats specify not to bring psychedelics, but some people still do secretly.
Coffee and Shrooms
There's definitely an aspect of adding to the egoic self. But for someone microdosing and trying to go to work, coffee and shrooms are a good combo, just don't eat in the morning.
If you understand the science you'll know that you induce more SNS while at the same time increasing blood glucose but hyper-increasing ketones. So you enter this tug-of-war state that technically skews towards more steady energy conducive to meditation. But you're right, it's basically becomes a tug-of-war between the left brain and right brain activation. It's very interesting and very insightful if you can get it right and dig into it. It's kind of the perfect situation for those who are desperately looking for Parasympathetic improvement, and stress reduction, but still maintaining a sense of drive (ego) just more steady and not as egoic.
